Put on by the delightful bloggers at The Broke and The Bookish, join us as we list our Top Ten somethings each Tuesday.
This is the time of year we all reflect on what we are grateful for and upon what has happened in the last year. While the last several months have not gone as smoothly as I would have hoped and wished, I am still aware I have so many blessings in my life.
Other than the first thing on my list, I decided to keep these things with a bookish bent for the fun and challenge of it.
1) My family
They are my everything.
2) My career
I love my job and I could not imagine doing something that is as fulfilling as being a librarian. Helping connect others to books day in and day out is both rewarding and challenging.
3) Books--of course!
No explanation needed. :) For almost as long as I can remember, books have been apart of my life.
4) My Eye Sight and Hearing
This summer was scary when I got sick and had times when both my vision and hearing were spotty and hurt. It helped remind me not take things I do on a daily basis for granted--such as reading and listening to audiobooks. It also made me realize to how precious life is and how I need to make sure I take the time with my family.
5) Smart Devices
All luxuries but these conveniences are used and appreciated daily. I read on iPad and Nook weekly. On my iPad and phone, I use EverNote for work, personal and blog planning as well as tracking my ever growing TBR list, work lists and wish lists. I also use GoodReads on them, Twitter and many other Bookish and non-bookish Apps.
6) Book Coupons and Savings
Working to stay on budget, I rely on buying books when having coupons or the special savings either on the daily deals through Amazon, Barnes and Noble or other deals I have managed to snatch up here and there. I do advocate using libraries (obviously) but for those titles I want to own, I am a bargain hunter so I try to get a good deal if I can.
7) Libraries
For obvious reasons such as I wouldn't have a job otherwise but also because they are places where you can go to sit and enjoy books for free. You can browse and discover new titles. You can step away from the stress of everyday life and discover something new. You can meet others or be alone. You can use a computer, attend a program, or just be.
8) Overdrive
There are other services available for eBooks through libraries and I have mentioned this one before, but check your local library to see if you have access. Who doesn't love to borrow eBooks for free? While you are at it double check to see if you can get free music, audiobooks and video downloads too.
9) Book Blogs/Bloggers
While why we all do this is varied, it is great fun to connect with others who geek out over books as much as I do and I am thankful to do so.

Goodreads has helped me a great deal as well. Before goodreads I just had a whole bunch of different lists going on my laptop. It was not very organized and there were so many it was becoming a pain to go through them. Oh and libraries, yes yes yes, every time I see someone have libraries listed today I get excited, more people should use them, to put it simply, they are awesome.

Same here--between all the notebooks and documents, I was never as organized as I wanted to be. :-) Libraries are such a blessing and I wish more people would use them!!
