Goodreads Synopsis:
Seventeen-year-old Lacey Kind doesn’t have the guts to talk to cute boys, isn’t a size two, and would rather stay home and listen to music than go to a party. But in the summer before her first year of college, she ends up thousands of miles away from home, in the back of a tour bus, underneath the half-naked body of the hottest teen rock star in the country. When Lacey and her best friend Trina sneak into a Boston nightclub to see their favorite band, they not only get to watch their rock gods perform for the first time, but score a chance to meet the band too. Lacey’s heart races as she comes face-to-face with her idol, nineteen-year-old lead singer, Logan Shire.
The girls charm their way into being hired to sell merchandise on Lansdowne’s first summer tour. As “merch girls” Lacey and Trina quickly find themselves transported from their ordinary, suburban life to an exhilarating few months on the road. But they soon realize that life on the road isn’t always a smooth ride...
My Thoughts:
If you were giving the chance to live out your dream would you take it? Lacey and Trina have been handed theirs--to follow their favorite band, Lansdowne, around the country on their first tour as Merch Girls and get to hang out with them during down time. While this seems like the perfect life, the girls quickly learn it is not as glamorous as you would think.
The narrator is Lacey and she is the girl that never gets the guy. The guys skip over her to go after other girls. She cannot believe that Logan Shire, the lead vocalist, would actually be interested in her. Tenuous at best, Lacey understands that her relationship with Logan has to remain a secret as not to disappoint his fans but it does not help the little self confidence she has. However as the tour progresses and through an unlikely friendship, Lacey begins to grow more confident in herself and in her relationship.
This story is a quick read that will have readers fantasizing about what would happen if they were in the same position if they were ever given the opportunity. Though sexual situations are presented in this book no details are given making this a relatively clean new adult/young adult read.
Last Impression:
A cute, quick read that will leave you singing along to your favorite band dreaming about the summer (and who doesn't want to dream about summer right now)

I'm a Boston girl so I love seeing books that take place here. I also love how the band name is Lansdowne which I assume is after the street. This sounds like a cute read.
ReplyDelete:) I have always wanted to visit Boston so I enjoyed the setting. I hope you enjoy it!
DeleteWhen I was 14 and first got into pop-punk and rockier types of music, I dreamed of going on the Warped Tour as a merch girl. I'd still love to do it, but my other dream gig would be to merch for The Gaslight Anthem. So either of those really, haha! Merch Girl sounds like a fun read, Lacey sounds like an interesting main character.
ReplyDelete:) Sounds like this would be a perfect way to live out one of your dreams!
DeleteThanks for participating in the Merch Girl blog tour!
ReplyDeleteCeCe - yes, they are named after the street -- I basically lived on that street all through college, going to see bands at Avalon, Bill's Bar, Axis, etc. I heard a lot of those places don't exist anymore... sad :(
Thanks for stopping by Love. Life. Read! Merch Girl was a delightful read!
